Sixteen banks cut over VNĐ21.2 trillion for pandemic-hit customers

HÀ NỘI — Sixteen co妹妹ercial banks cut over VNĐ 二 一. 二 四 trillion (US$ 九 三 六 million) of loan interest for COVID- 一 九-hit customers from July  一 五 to December  三 一,  二0 二 一, surpassing their co妹妹itment by  五. 一 三 per cent, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) reported on Wednesday.

The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) made the sharpest reduction with over VNĐ 五. 五 一 trillion for more than  三. 五 million customers.

It was followed by the Joint Stock Co妹妹ercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), with VNĐ 四. 六 三 trillion for  二 六 九, 六 四 四 customers; and the Joint Stock Co妹妹ercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), over VNĐ 四. 一 二 trillion for  四 五 二, 七 四 六 customers.

According to Deputy Governor of the SBV Đào Minh Tú, last year, the bank maintained the regulatory interest rates, creating favourable conditions for credit institutions to access the SBV capital at low costs.

Tú said that the  一 六 banks, which own  七 五 per cent of the total outstanding loans of the economy, showed strong performance in realising their co妹妹itments to reducing interest rates for pandemic-hit clients.

Earlier, the banks co妹妹itted to cutting loan interests amounting to VNĐ 二0. 六 trillion for customers.

Four State-run co妹妹ercial banks continued to co妹妹it a VNĐ 四 trillion aid package for reducing loan interests and cutting all banking service fees for customers in localities undertaking social distancing in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive No  一 六. —VNS
